Perkeso to pay benefits to widow of factory supervisor, help daughter find job

KUALA LUMPUR: The widow of a factory supervisor who died on May 5 will receive benefits from the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso).

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said the deceased, Muniandy Subramaniam, 51, had been an active Perkeso contributor since 1991.

"His heirs are entitled to benefits under the Employment Injury Scheme," he said.

Sim said Subramaniam's widow, Komlah Arumugam, 49, was eligible to receive a one-time payment of RM2,000 for funeral management and a monthly dependent's benefit of RM2,673 for life.

"Perkeso will also assist the deceased's eldest daughter in finding suitable employment through national job portal MYFutureJobs, after she decided to quit her job in Kuala Lumpur to take care of her mother."

It was reported that a supervisor died after falling from a height of more than 20m while inspecting maintenance work at a manufacturing plant in Penang.

Penang Department of Occupational Safety and Health director Hairozie Asri said initial investigations found that the victim was overseeing the ladle crane maintenance work carried at the factory.
