KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation into oil spills along Persiaran Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang, a clip of which went viral on social media recently.
South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said the investigation by police was to establish if there were elements of sabotage behind the oil spills.
Cha, in a statement today, said police received information in a video clip purportedly showing multiple vehicles in an accident caused by oil on the road.
Investigations however, revealed that only one vehicle was involved.
"The vehicle owner filed a report at the South Klang district police station," Cha said, adding that there were no injuries or fatalities.
The case, he said, is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 for failure to exercise proper control of a vehicle.
He added that the oil spill on the road had been cleaned by LRT3 (road maintenance), adding that the road was now safe for motorists.
Cha also called on members of the public with information on the incident to contact police.
A clip of a driver who lost control of his vehicle, went viral on social media recently, after it was posted by a user on X (formerly Twitter).
"If you are from Andalas or the general hospital heading to Klang, please drive slowly, as there are people who spilled oil on the road," social media user @NaratifRakyat said.
