Aidil and Letshanaa storm into Indonesia Masters II Super 100 finals

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian shuttlers Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin and K. Letshanaa have advanced to the finals of the Indonesia Masters II Super 100, putting both on the verge of their career-best victories.

In Saturday's semi-finals, world No. 63 Letshanaa set the tone by defeating Taiwan's world No. 53 Liang Ting Yu 21-18, 21-19.

She will face Indonesia's Ni Kadek Pratiwi in the final, where a victory would end her 22-month title drought since winning the Uganda International in February last year.

World No. 124 Aidil completed Malaysia's successful day in the men's singles, emerging victorious from a gruelling 76-minute battle against Yohanes Saut Marcellyno with scores of 21-19, 21-23, 21-16.

In his quest for a maiden World Tour title, Aidil faces home favourite Alwi Farhan in the final. The odds appear challenging for the Malaysian, who has fallen short in his previous two encounters against the world No. 43.

Aidil will be aiming to capture his first title since winning the Indonesia International Challenge in October last year.

However, Malaysia's hopes in the men's doubles were dashed after both seeded pairs bowed out in the semi-finals.

Top seeds Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong succumbed to Rahmat Hidayat-Yeremia Rambitan 16-21, 21-18, 21-17, while second seeds Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong fell to Raymond Indra-Patra Harapan Rondorindo 21-16, 22-20.
