JOHOR BARU: Police will continue to monitor the operations of any radical groups in the country.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) is not a threat to the country and the recent attack on the Ulu Tiram police station was the work of a lone perpetrator who was self-motivated.
However, Saifuddin said, efforts are ongoing to rehabilitate former JI members and suspected radical groups.
"Our police force has 217 years of experience and a database of suspected militants.
"Let's not exaggerate the involvement of JI or militants in the recent attack.
"The public doesn't have to worry about safety (of the country). It is safe and peaceful," he told a press conference at the Johor police headquarters here today.
