Malaysia Airlines flight attendant dies while on layover in Tokyo

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines flight attendant was found dead today in her room while on a layover in Tokyo.

The airline, in a statement, confirmed the passing of Norzana Hanim Hamzah.

The airline said Norzana was on layover in Tokyo after completing a flight to Narita International Airport.

She was scheduled to work on a return flight to Kuala Lumpur today.

Malaysia Airlines said it has contacted Norzana's family and will be giving them the necessary assistance.

"The airline has been in touch with Norzana's family and will be supporting them during this difficult time.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Norzana," the statement read.

Earlier, a Facebook page dedicated to cabin crew worldwide said, according to sources, that Norzana had passed away before pick-up for her return to Malaysia.

"The cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but unconfirmed reports from the MH crew community suggest she possibly suffered a fall while getting ready for her return flight," read the post on Facebook.
