United Airlines flight emergency lands in Chubu Nagoya Airport following in-flight system malfunction

KUALA LUMPUR: A United Airlines flight bound for Guam had to return to Chubu Nagoya Airport, Japan for an emergency landing.

The aircraft had detected a system malfunction during the flight, Kyodo News reported, quoting a statement from the Japan Transport Ministry.

Flight 136, a Boeing 737 aircraft, made the return landing at around 11.35am local time.

There were no injuries among the 44 passengers and six crew members on board, according to the ministry.

The flight was cancelled, and the runway at Chubu airport was temporarily closed, the ministry added, saying that the aircraft had not sustained any damage.
