ALOR STAR: The couple who went viral for riding a motorcycle with their 11-month-old baby, who relies on a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine due to chronic lung disease, are believed to have gone missing.
Efforts to contact them have been unsuccessful, as they have not answered calls and have disconnected their phone.
The Masjid Al Maarufi Seberang Kota Kuala Kedah chairman Muhammad Hazamer Mualim said they have also checked the area around the 35-year-old man's house but have been unable to locate him.
He said the man's mother, who suffers from a stroke, was the only one at home, and she is being looked after by a nearby neighbour.
"The District Religious Office has given me permission to inform the couple to submit the necessary documents to facilitate their marriage process.
"However, to date, I have not received any documents from them, and they are believed to have disappeared," he said when contacted today.
Hazamer said that the mosque has no issue with conducting the marriage, but the complete documents are required before proceeding.
On June 9, 2016, the media reported on the 35-year-old woman's plight when her third son, then eight months old, was suffering from pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and asthma.
Following the media report, the woman received numerous donations from the public, who sympathised with her child's condition.
However, the woman's plight resurfaced last Sunday after she and her partner were seen taking their chronically ill child to the hospital on a motorcycle, with the baby wearing a breathing apparatus.
Their situation has garnered attention from the public, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
