260,000 applications for 668 Sabah civil service vacancies last year

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Public Service Commission (SPANS) received 260,399 applications for 668 vacancies last year.

Commission chairman Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman said the 668 vacancies were for various positions and grades.

"In addition to new appointments, SPANS also manages matters related to public service, including granting pensionable status, job confirmations, asset declarations, disciplinary actions, and promotions.

"In total, 6,899 cases across 27 SPANS functions were carried out last year," he was quoted in a statement after a courtesy call on Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, at Istana Seri Kinabalu here.

Sukarti said the purpose of the visit was to submit the annual report on SPANS activities, as outlined under Article 37(10) of the Sabah Constitution.

Present were SPANS deputy chairman Datuk Claudius Roman, secretary Diana Daria Amit and other members of the commission.
