Perkeso records six-fold jump in number of registered contributors

KUALA LUMPUR: The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) recorded an almost six-fold jump in the number of registered contributors for the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) under the Self Employed Social Security Act 2017 (Act 789) which amounted to 471,000 people compared to the same period last year.

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said encouraging numbers were also recorded over the same period for the number of job placements through the national employment service portal- MYFutureJobs.

There was an increase of 152 per cent, with 39,136 individuals successfully getting job placement compared to 15,520 individuals over the same period last year.

"Total collection of contributions, percentage of insured persons per returning to work through the Return-to-Work Programme (RTW) and others also generate positive returns with total excess income of RM608 million until April this year, an increase of 1.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.

"This positive growth momentum is expected to continue until the end of the year, thus being able to continue the legacy of excellence that has been outlined by Perkeso last year," he said during Perkeso's Excellent Service Award and Loyal Service Award 2023, on Tuesday.

Sim said Perkeso's key performance indicators (KPIs) for this year are to achieve the target of one million self-employed individuals contributing to the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) and 50,000 women to register and contribute to the Housewives' Social Security Scheme (SKSSR).

It is expected to be materialised this year, for more sustainable, comprehensive and holistic social security protection.

Present at the event were the Human Resources Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud; deputy secretary-general (operations) Sutekno Ahmad Belon; Perkeso board chairman Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.
