KUALA LUMPUR: A Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) substation in Kepong caught fire earlier today.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire Department Operations Centre in a statement said the fire was successfully extinguished at 9.21pm.
It said overhaul work is currently being carried out while waiting for TNB personnel to arrive at the scene.
Investigation is ongoing and the cause of the fire had yet to be ascertained, it said.
"The Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre received a distress call at 7.14pm and dispatched firemen to the scene.
Senior Operations Commander Mohd Azhar Harun said the fire was raging when the team arrived at the scene.
"The firemen conducted cooling operations from the first floor and could not perform direct extinguishing due to the electric current at the location.
"The fire was successfully extinguished at 9.21pm using two foam canisters," it said.
A total of 13 personnel of various ranks from the Jinjang and Menjalara fire departments were dispatched to the scene.
