KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in five states until 6pm today.
The states affected, as revealed through its website, are Pahang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Johor and Sarawak.
In Pahang, the affected areas include Raub, Bentong and Romping.
Selangor will experience bad weather in Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.
In Negri Sembilan, Jelebu and Jempol will be primarily affected.
The warning for Johor involves Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Baru.
For Sarawak, the areas particularly affected are Sarikei (Meradong), Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, and Mukah), Kapit (Belaga), Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Telang Usan) and Limbang.
"The warnings are issued when there are signs indicating thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour which are expected to last for more than an hour.
"They are valid for a period not exceeding six hours for each issue," MetMalaysia's statement said.
