PM endorses 'Sheriff Narko Integriti' as a must-watch local film

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his admiration for the capabilities of the local film industry after watching Sheriff Narko Integriti tonight.

"I have watched the movie (Sheriff) and I was impressed by the storyline, dialogues and the way it was directed.

"Although (Datuk Seri Wan) Azizah (Wan Ismail) was concerned about the shooting scenes, but this is a movie about the police force," he told the guests who attended the special screening of the movie at IOI City Mall here, tonight.

Present was his wife Azizah, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) chairman Tan Sri Dr Ismail Bakar.

Anwar said that the government would support the local film industry to further boost its growth.

"If this is the quality of our Malay film, I believe in its bright future and that the Malay film industry can compete with other films regionally and internationally," he added while urging those who haven't watched the movie to do so.

The film was directed by Syafiq Yusof.

Jointly produced by Skop Productions and Astro Shaw, Sheriff tells the story of Sheriffuddin Hussein alias Sheriff, a tough police officer from the Integrity Department whose duty it is to combat corruption in the police force.

He meets a young and idealistic police officer Nazri, who works in the Narcotics Department and is investigating a series of brutal murders committed by a mysterious man known as the Meth Killer.

Nazri and Sheriff work together to uncover the killer as well as confront the ruthless drug kingpin, Tony.

In their mission to bring Tony and the killer to justice, Sheriff and Nazri are aided by no-nonsense female police officers Sha and Jane.

Sheriff stars Zul Ariffin, Syafiq Kyle, Datuk Aaron Aziz, Azira Shafinaz, Elizabeth Tan, Shaharuddin Thamby, Kodi Rasheed and Hazama Azmi.
