LHDN officials take corruption-free oath

PUTRAJAYA: Officials of the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) today took the Corruption-Free Oath (IBR) and pledged their continuous commitment to strengthening their integrity and supporting the government's aspiration in combating corruption.

In a statement today, LHDN announced that the ceremony was led by Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, who serves as both Treasury Secretary-General and LHDN board chairman, accompanied by Nor Yati Ahmad, the Accountant-General, LHDN CEO Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin, and LHDN's private consultant Datuk Noor Azian Abdul Hamid.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki witnessed the ceremony.

"As an agency certified under the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) since 2022, the implementation of IBR is expected to enhance accountability among organisational leadership, prevent misconduct, and curb abuse of power," the statement read.

Azam highlighted that LHDN was the first statutory body to implement IBR in 2017 and to have its board members sign the pledge.

He also expressed hope for continued collaboration between LHDN and MACC to bolster revenue collection efforts and promote economic development through robust anti-corruption measures.
