PENAMPANG: A viral official letter has urged the public to observe proper hygiene following the rising number of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) incidents in the district.
The letter, with a letterhead from the Penampang Health Office dated June 19, has urged both government and private health clinics to fill out virtual Google forms should they receive reports of AGE.
It also urged relevant authorities to increase health promotion efforts; calling on the public to prioritise hand hygiene and boil water.
As of press time, the state Health Department has yet to issue an official statement about the viral letter.
However, some parents have received reminders from schools to take note of the matter.
Last week, 191 AGE cases were reported in Tenom, but all victims were in stable condition.
