Foreign national believed to have jumped to his death

KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign national was found dead after he is believed to have fallen from the 12th floor of a condominium in Subang Jaya here last night.

Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police received an emergency call at 8.19pm reporting an incident of an individual attempting to jump from Rhythm Avenue.

"Upon arrival at 8.32pm, police found an unidentified male lying on the sidewalk of a building, suffering from severe injuries to the head, body and legs.

"An ambulance from Sungai Buloh Hospital arrived at the scene and the medical assistant confirmed the death," he said in a statement today.

He said preliminary investigations and closed circuit television camera (CCTV) footage revealed that the foreign national jumped from level 12A and fell onto the roof of the seventh floor of the building.

Wan Azlan added that witnesses to the incident had tried to persuade the man to come down from the roof but were unsuccessful.

He then jumped again, falling on the sidewalk area of the building.

"The deceased has been identified as a male, non-citizen in his 30s, who had recently resided on level 12A of the building for a month and was unemployed," he said.

He said the case is classified as sudden death.

He said the body has been sent to the Serdang Hospital forensic department for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

"Members of the public with information on this incident may contact investigating officer Inspector Ahmad Zarrin Abd Rashid at 019-996 4111 to assist in the investigation," he said.
