Penang governor receives 2024 CHT Lifetime Achievement Award 

SUBANG JAYA: Penang Yang di-Pertua Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak received the coveted CHT Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2024.

The award was given during the tenth CHT International Awards organised by CHTNetwork at Sunway Resort, Sunway City yesterday.

The event celebrates and honours outstanding individuals and organisations that have excelled in their respective industries both internationally and at home.

They were selected not only for their achievements in their respective fields but also for their contributions to society.  

Ahmad Fuzi, 75, was born in Sungai Bakap, Penang on Jan 8, 1949. He is married with two children.

He was previously the secretary-general of the Ministry of Forelgn Affairs.

He joined the Malaysian Diplomatic and Administrative Service in 1972 and served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2009.

He also served at the Malaysian Missions abroad in Moscow, the Hague, Canberra, Washington and Dhaka.

His tenure as secretary-general saw him leading the Malaysian Senior Official delegation in negotiations at various bilateral, regional and international conferences as well as in organising the NAM Summit and the OIC Summit in 2003 and the Asean Summit plus East Asia Summit and Related Summits In 2005 in Kuala Lumpur.

Amhad Fuzi is also Distinguished Fellow, Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR); deputy chairman of Malaysian Member Committee of the Council for Security.

CHT founding president Datuk Chng Huck Theng said the CHT International Awards is more than just an award ceremony.

He said it is a platform that celebrates hard work, perseverance, and excellence, with a vision to make the world a better place.

"As we celebrate our tenth edition, we continue to prioritise quality over quantity. To date, the CHT International Awards have honoured over 140 deserving individuals and organisations, including foreign dignitaries, ambassadors, statesmen, and ministers still serving in office.

"This year, we are privileged to present the CHT Lifetime Achievement Award to TYT Tun Ahmad Fuzi, the Penang Governor. Honouring him reflects the commitment to recognising and honouring the best and highlights the unique distinction of the CHT International Awards platform," he said.

Tengku Sulaiman Shah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah graced the ceremony as the guest of honour.

Also present at the event were Media Prima Group chairman and CHTNetwork advisor Datuk Dr Syed Hussian Syed Junid, Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Datuk Jojie Samuel, Cambodia Ambassador to Malaysia Ouk Chandara, Affin Bank Berhad president and Group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah and Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Sri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.
