Dirty business: Workers pick, repack taugeh from filthy market floor [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Raw taugeh strewn all over the floor, on machinery and near a drain, easily accessible to rats.

This is the sight which greeted Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers during an operation at a Pusat Bandar Utara KL wholesale market.

To make matters worse, the workers processing the taugeh would collect it from the dirty floor and repackage it for sale.

In Facebook post, DBKL said it shut two taugeh processing premises and two butcheries which were also dirty.

One premise also had its license revoked. The authorities also issued 16 compounds.

In the case of the butcheries, DBKL officers found that its workers had disposed of chicken feathers and blood directly into the drain.

The workers also did not have typhoid shots.

"DBKL reminds all premise business owners to ensure the cleanliness of their premises and adhere to their licensing conditions."
