'Committee for king's coronation to meet next week, preparations smooth'

PUTRAJAYA: The special committee for the coronation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia on July 20 will hold a meeting next week to review events for the ceremony.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the meeting would review the seven events lined up for the coronation.

He said preparations for the ceremony were going smoothly.

"My team and I will present the royal invitation for the coronation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim to the prime minister today.

"With the delivery of the royal invitation, I fulfil my official duty to present invitations to His Majesty, the Malay rulers and the prime minister," he said at a post-cabinet meeting press conference here today.

On another matter, Fahmi said the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) would hold its annual celebration from July 12 to 14 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

"There will be 68 activities across 12 clusters during the three-day event.

"Felda, in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, will host a mini exhibition featuring rural and small-scale entrepreneurs.

"The prime minister is expected to officiate the event on July 13."

He said the event would feature 1,000 stalls and exhibitions, including 317 food stalls.
