KUANTAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed his Cabinet ministers and senior government officials to pay attention to villages nationwide.
He said this is important in ensuring people in the wellbeing of the people and development of villages and rural areas.
Ministers and government officials, Anwar said, must be aware of what is happening on the ground.
"We go down to the ground and hear (from the people). We have theories and develop Madani policies.
"But we want to know the impact (of the policies) in villages, that is why we need to go to the ground," he said in a speech at the launch of the Madani village adoption programme in Kampung Chengal Lempong here.
Also present was Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Pahang state secretary Datuk Seri Zulkifli Yaacob.
Meanwhile, Anwar said the Madani village adoption programme, which was announced during the tabling of Budget 2024, will help Putrajaya assess the effectiveness of government policies.
"To measure our success, we must go to the ground to obtain information and resolve the issues."
It is understood that Kampung Chengal Lempong has been chosen as an "adopted village" due to the poverty in the area.
The Madani village adoption programme focuses on rural areas to ensure people have access to basic infrastructure and services including water and electricity supply, and the internet among others.
