King expresses concern over the spread of 'rojak' Islamic teachings dividing Muslims

PUTRAJAYA: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has expressed concern over the growing presence and proliferation of Islamic beliefs and teachings, which he said has created a 'rojak' (mixed) situation.

In his royal address at the national-level Maal Hijrah 1446H celebration here today, Sultan Ibrahim is concerned that these differing views, which contradict the teachings of Ahl al-Sunnah Wal Jamaah, will only create division among Muslims in the country.

"I have noticed a proliferation of different Islamic beliefs and teachings. It has become a 'rojak' (mixed) situation, which will only divide the Muslim community.

"Do not let yourselves be misled by teachings from those with their own agendas.

"If this situation continues, how can Muslims unite? Think carefully about this. I can only remind you, but the choice is yours," Sultan Ibrahim said.

The King emphasized that the fundamental basis for maintaining strong racial and religious unity in Malaysia is to avoid excessive actions.

The public, Sultan Ibrahim said, must steer clear of any form of provocation, slander, or envy that could damage the long-standing bonds of unity.

"We must always maintain this harmony with mutual respect, understanding and tolerance.

"For example, the use of loudspeakers in mosques and surau, which sometimes causes issues for local residents.

"As an Islamic country, the call to prayer (azan) at prayer times should be loud. However, recitations of the Quran, prayers, and religious lectures should be confined within the mosque premises."

His Majesty also advised the public not to be excessive or extreme, especially on issues related to race and religion, which could create division.

"Every race has its own culture and religion. We must live with mutual respect for one another.

"Indeed, all Muslims are brothers. Differences in race, culture, and origin should not be reasons for misunderstanding, insulting, or accusing one another."
