MACC expects 10 people to provide statements on HRD Corp case today

PUTRAJAYA: A total of six people have arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters to provide statements to assist in the ongoing investigation into Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) following the revelations from the National Audit Report (LKAN) Series 2/2024 and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) this morning.

MACC senior investigation director, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, said all of them arrived around 10am today.

According to him, the MACC expects 10 people from HRD Corp and the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) to have their statements taken today.

He said that some of them requested to come later (after 11am) due to personal matters, but all will be present today to provide their statements.

"The process of taking statements was supposed to be done yesterday, but was postponed to today," he said.

Media practitioners began gathering outside the MACC building since 9am today to cover the case.

Previously, it was reported last Wednesday that an MACC investigation team entered the HRD Corp headquarters at Jalan Beringin, Bukit Damansara, around 2:30pm and left two hours later.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, MACC investigators reportedly already collected documents from the HRD Corp and Kesuma offices.

Last Thursday, the Auditor-General, Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, in the LKAN Series 2/2024 report, suggested Kesuma to refer the management of HRD Corp to the relevant enforcement agencies following the government's company's failure in the audit.

On the same day, the PAC revealed that a total of RM3.77 billion in levy collections from employers was used by HRD Corp to invest in various investment activities that were not the agency's intended purpose.
