Cops help family stranded on busy highway

KUALA LUMPUR: Two policemen went above and beyond their call of duty, assisting a family in distress on the side of a busy highway.

In a posting on 'Polis Daerah Johor Bahru Utara' Facebook page, lance corporal Apandi and lance corporal Jamil were patrolling the Iskandar Puteri highway when they spotted a stranded motorcycle, a Honda EX5, on the shoulder of the road heading towards Gelang Patah.

Upon checking, they learnt that it was caused by a flat tyre.

"The motorcycle was owned by a man who was together with his wife and two children who needed assistance.

"Initial actions were taken by Apandi and Jamil to ensure the safety of the family by providing welfare assistance and bringing the wife and two children to their residence.

"Then, they escorted the man to a motorcycle workshop and gave him some cash to repair the motorcycle," the posting said.

The posting gained attraction with netizens expressing their appreciation to the two policemen in the comment section.

"Congratulations to the two officers and the Johor Baru Utara police. May Allah reward your sincerity," says user Mat Anggot.
