KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants 100 biotechnology scientists to hold talks in 100 schools to increase students' interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Anwar told Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, who will lead the initiative, to prepare a list of scientists and schools in two weeks.
"I told Chang to work closely with the Education Ministry to increase programmes attracting the interest of youth in STEM.
"So professionals from biotechnology companies, agencies and related ministries will go to schools and universities once or twice a month and spend two or three hours to give students exposure."
He said this at the National Bioeconomy Showcase 2024 here today.
