PAPAR: The Sabah government mulls increasing the annual allocation for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programme next year.
State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said the allocation given to each district information office (PPD) aimed to spur students' interest in STEM.
"The annual allocation now is RM20,000 for each PPD. Next year, we will try to increase it.
"Previously, the allocation was RM15,000. We will see how well all the PPD are performing. Most of our children have good innovation skills and creativity, which is why we need to nurture it," he said after officiating at the opening of the state-level STEM and TVET Festival 2024 organised by PPD Papar at SMK Pengalat Hall here.
