Langkawi's bull 'Kochi' sets sights on 'King of Sado' title at animal welfare carnival

LANGKAWI: A Langkawi farmer's prized bull, 'Kochi', is set to compete for the coveted "King of Sado" title at the upcoming Kedah Veterinary Services Department's Animal Welfare Carnival (KKH) in Alor Star.

The three-day carnival at Taman Jubli Emas will feature the "Lembu Sado" Competition alongside a Beautiful Cat Competition, Animal Welfare Campaign, and various other events.

"Kochi", a two-year-old Limousin breed bull under the care of 22-year-old Muhammad Yusuf Amin Masmawi, previously clinched the same title at the Langkawi Lembu Sado Gathering last October.

Muhammad Yusuf has been caring for "Kochi" since it was only 10 months old, after acquiring it from a farmer in Terengganu.

He believes "Kochi" is well-prepared to secure the "King of Sado" title at the carnival.

"This hybrid bull, weighing approximately 800kg, was a local stage champion, and its debut in the carnival presents 'Kochi' with an opportunity to demonstrate its strength on a larger stage. About 300 bulls from different farmers will vie for the championship title in Alor Star," Muhammad Yusuf said during the send-off ceremony.

The send-off ceremony, which saw the presence of five bulls, was officiated by Langkawi District Officer Mohamad Subhi Abdullah.

Alongside "Kochi", three other Limousin breed bulls ("Kachang", "Mike", and "Lily") and one Brahman breed bull ("Puteh") are representing Langkawi in the competition.

Subhi highlighted that Langkawi's team was sending these bulls to compete in three categories at the carnival: "King of Sado", "Prince of Sado", and "Princess of Sado".

"Some of these bulls have previously won local championship and runner-up titles, so we are hopeful that Langkawi's participation will bring success in Alor Star," he added.
