PUTRAJAYA: This year's National Day parade saw the Road Transport Department (RTD) flexing its muscles – literally – with a striking display of power.
A squad of RTD officers, dressed in short-sleeved dark blue shirts that showed off their ripped physiques, stood at the back of a truck, waving to the crowd and flaunting their chiselled bodies.
Their impressive presence captured the attention of spectators in Putrajaya and quickly went viral on social media.
One TikTok user captioned a video, "Abang RTD takes the crown this year!" while another, @ImanRashid, quipped, "The Fire Department held the title for two years, but this time, they've got serious competition. Still, the firemen are the winners."
In a separate viral video, the Fire and Rescue Department, known for their playful spirit, displayed cheeky banners saying, "Why choose him when abang bomba is here? #AkakBombaIsHereToo."
Last year's parade was equally memorable, with fire engines capturing the crowd's excitement. Some held up humorous signs like, "Fire is hot, but you lot are the cool ones," and "Love you tightly."
On Facebook, user Didiey Nadirah proposed a new rule for next year's parade: No 'sado' men allowed.
She noted that many young attendees seemed more interested in the muscular RTD officers than in celebrating National Day, or watching the parade.
The RTD is part of the Kesejahteraan Contingent, which includes 2,592 members.
