KOTA BARU: Kelantan has reported one dengue fever fatality and a total of 1,188 cases as of July 13 this year.
State Local Government, Housing, Health, and Environment Committee chairman Hilmi Abdullah said the cases have increased by 7.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
"Between January and July 13, we recorded 1,188 dengue cases, while in the same period last year, we had 1,108 cases," he said in a statement.
As of July 13, Hilmi said a total of 270,246 premises have been inspected.
"As a result, 1,000 compounds amounting to RM500,000 were issued to owners of premises where Aedes breeding grounds were found," he said.
He said the state health department would closely monitor the dengue situation to prevent more Aedes breeding grounds in the localities.
"The department has taken proactive measures, including regularly eliminating breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes."
