KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly woman was found unconscious in her living room after inhaling smoke following a blaze at a flat in Taman Kosas, Ampang, early this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the victim was taken to Hospital Ampang after firefighters broke down the door and rescued her.
"The fire involved a five-storey Class A flat, occurring on the first floor, approximately 20x30 ft (600 sqft) in size, burning about 20 percent of the area.
"A Malay female victim, aged 74, was sent to Ampang Hospital using the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) from the Ampang Fire and Rescue Station," he said.
He said 18 personnel were dispatched to the location.
