Putrajaya to delegate MM2H administration to Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The federal government will delegate control of the Sabah-Malaysia My Second Home (Sabah-MM2H) programme to the state government soon, said State Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Christina Liew.

Liew said federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing had informed her of this during their meeting in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

She said the Sabah-MM2H programme would be administered by the state Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS).

"This means Sabah can come up with its own terms and conditions for Sabah-MM2H.

"We will be empowered to process applications and issue the MM2H pass to successful applicants.

"And I was assured that the enforcement task will be passed to us whereby we can come up with our own version," Liew said in a statement.

She said the revised terms and regulations for the MM2H (Malaysia) programme would serve as guidelines, but Sabah would not be bound by them.

Liew said companies previously licensed by the federal ministry to handle MM2H applications would now have to get a licence from the state ministry and comply with Sabah-MM2H terms and conditions.
