Dr M calls for 'strongest international peacekeeping force' in Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad appealed for the 'strongest international peacekeeping force' to be deployed to Gaza to safeguard the Palestinian population.

Dr Mahathir emphasised the necessity for strong and substantial peacekeeping forces to halt the widespread killings perpetrated by Israel.

"Please, please, stop the mass killings of Palestinians. Israel disregards international opinions and laws," he said.

He called on the international community which upholds the rule of law, to take action and ensure enforcement.

"Please deploy international peacekeeping forces to Gaza to protect the Palestinian people. We need strong and substantial international peacekeepers to halt the mass killings," Dr Mahathir said in a statement released today.

He said the Palestinian people should be assisted in the name of humanity and to uphold the sanctity of human life.

"I urge an end to the mass killings. I appeal to the world's conscience to halt these mass killings," he said.
