Mara products worth RM1.8bil sold overseas in 2023 [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) entrepreneurs sold more than RM1.8 billion in products in international markets last year.

Its chairman, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, said these entrepreneurs also created job opportunities for 14,409 workers nationwide.

He said 35 Mara business tenants have successfully entered overseas markets. They offered products such as food and beverage clusters, lifestyle offerings, and services catering to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Southeast Asia.

"This underscores the acceptance of local products abroad. Mara remains committed to providing essential support for entrepreneurs to excel globally."

Asyraf said this at the Mara lessees convention, held today at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

He listed Mara entities Bubbles O2, Kumang & Co., Kasih Concept, Easy Paint Sdn Bhd, Fatihah Frozen Sdn Bhd, and Nk Exclusive Business as examples of effective market penetration strategies.

"Mara continues to ensure our entrepreneurs thrive in local markets and on the global stage," he added.

Asyraf also allocated RM48 million for the upkeep and management of Mara facilities and business premises.

"I have instructed Mara officers to take necessary actions against any tenants in breach of their agreements," he asserted.

The Mara lessees convention was attended by 600 lessees nationwide. It facilitated interaction among entrepreneurs and offered a platform for expanding business networks.

The event also recognised outstanding lessees across five categories, with 376 nominations received.
