Integrity starts from home: DIGP

BATANG KALI: Instilling good values such as integrity starts from the home.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said family upbringing was what shapes the behaviour and personality of an individual.

"Aside from that, the way one behaves and their social relationships within a family is what moulds the individual's personality when they grow up later.

"I am convinced that the formation of an individual's integrity starts from the main nucleus which is the family and everything starts from the home," he said in his closing speech for the crime prevention carnival from the perspective of religion at Masjid Bandar Utama here on Thursday.

The programme was attended by about 1,000 residents from in the area.

The event also hosted a forum which featured four panellists including communications expert Bala Supramanian Appalasamy, Vice Chairman of the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) Datuk Seri Ayub Yaakob and Malaysian Criminology and Correctional Organisation representative Lim Yeong Yeon.

Ayob Khan expressed confidence that there is no religion that allows its followers to be involved in tyranny, cruelty or any criminal conduct.

"Realising how important the gift of national peace and harmony is, it must be preserved and defended earnestly by all citizens.

"Every religion demands that its followers always love the blessings of peace, security and well-being," he said.

He emphasised that the police force, as the main enforcement agency will make every effort to maintain the peace of the country while contributing to the well-being of society as a whole.

"PDRM is confident that only with the support and close cooperation of all stakeholders and the community, the blessings felt today will last and be passed onto future generations," he said.
