UPNM alumnus calls for positivity and solidarity among graduates

KUALA LUMPUR: A National Defence University Malaysia (UPNM) alumnus has questioned how seniors and juniors can eat at the same table if the university produces murderers.

The writer of the anonymous letter and a prosecution witness in the murder case of Navy cadet officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, Lieutenant Muhammad Aiman Aufa Asmadi Affendi, said he still keeps in close contact with his seniors.

"If it's true that UPNM produces murderers, how could seniors and juniors hang out together and eat at the same table?

"Honestly, to this day, I still keep in close contact and work together with my seniors from UPNM,' he said in an Instagram post, addressing the recent social media controversy about the case.

In his post, Muhammad Aiman Aufa called on UPNM alumni and management to spread the truth, goodness, and all positive aspects about the university, and not remain silent about cyberbullying.

"If we (UPNM alumni) don't share the real situation and facts, who else will? Don't stay silent in the face of cyberbullying. Say no to bullying.

"As an alternative, as a sign of solidarity, let's share pictures from our time at UPNM. While reminiscing about the memories," he said.

He acknowledged that UPNM holds a special place in his heart, not only as an institution for academic learning but also for teaching many life skills.

"UPNM is also where I met friends, companions, and acquaintances. It's a place to build a strong character," he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the UPNM trainers and lecturers who educated the nation's youth.

For Aiman Aufa, UPNM played an important role in shaping him into a competent officer in service.

"UPNM is where I learned to step out of my comfort zone, try new things, and much more. Thank you," he said.
