RMAF: 'Exercise Kelawar' to enhance tactical, special forces readiness

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) will conduct low-level tactical helicopter flights in Sabah starting from Aug 1.

In a statement, RMAF said the 10-day "Exercise Kelawar 2024" would involve helicopters and special forces in the Op Pasir area in Tawau, Semporna and Lahad Datu.

"This exercise aims to enhance crew readiness and proficiency while providing improvements in tactical flight operations during conflicts and threats at night.

"Throughout the exercise until Aug 10, RMAF helicopters will conduct low-level tactical flights around the areas."

As such, it said the public should not be alarmed if they saw aircraft flying at low altitudes during the period.
