KUALA LUMPUR: Sergeant Mazlan Abdul Rahman has shown good progress and is now able to recognise his family members, says Roseila Mat Saad.
Roseila, 35, is the wife of the Malaysian Army Sergeant Mazlan Abdul Rahman, 35, who was involved in a motorcycle accident at Kepala Batas, Penang, around 8:30pm last Sunday.
"My husband has been able to remember me since last night and has asked about our children and other family members, including his mother. He is now undergoing surgery on his hand," she said.
She said the accident caused her husband to suffer serious injuries to his head, knee, hand, as well as a broken shoulder and two fingers.
He was taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) in Sungai Petani for further treatment.
"My heart broke seeing my husband in such a state, especially when he was unconscious. Around 11pm that night, I was informed that he had regained consciousness, but was still groggy and did not remember how the accident happened.
"He also did not recognise anyone, including me. He only started to recognise me last night before being transferred to another ward," she said when contacted by Harian Metro today.
Roseila said Mazlan's condition as of 12:40pm today was stable, but the surgery was expected to take about three hours.
"I am grateful and relieved that my husband is conscious. I appreciate and thank the family, friends, and the public for their support and prayers for his recovery. Some have even performed special prayers for him," she said.
"I hope the surgery goes smoothly and that there are no serious complications. We have two sons, including one who is autistic, aged three and seven," she added.
Roseila said that while she did not know all the details, she was informed that her husband's motorcycle had rear-ended a car.
