'It is too late for an apology,' says family of late Zufarhan Osman [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The family of the late navy cadet Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain does not intend to meet with the families of those who were charged for his murder.

They said it is too late for any apology.

Zulfarhan's father, Zulkarnain Idros, 60, said the families of the accused could have apologised in 2018 when the case was being heard at the High Court.

"Even though I do not deny that one of the accused's fathers met me to apologise, I told him that they (the accused) wronged my son, not me.

"Even if I accept the apology, my son is already gone. If they (the families) wanted to apologise, why wait until now? We have met in court many times before.

"We passed by each other without speaking during the early stages of the trial, as if it was my son who had killed their children."

He dded that his family could not accept the way his son was burned with a steam iron 90 times, including on his private parts.

He said the actions of the accused were extremely cruel and that even animals would not behave in such a manner.

"It is alright, I do not want to meet with the families of the accused. It is enough."

On July 23, the Court of Appeal today sentenced six former UPNM cadets to death for Zulfarhan's murder seven years ago.
