Fadillah 'deeply moved' after reunion with ex-principal Sister Ignatia

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof had an emotional reunion with his former primary school principal after many years.

In a post on his Facebook page, he shared that he had tried to arrange for a meet-up several times.

However, he only succeeded during his visit to the Convent of Mary Immaculate in Kuching, yesterday.

Fadillah was reunited with Sister Ignatia Soon, the headmistress of Sekolah Kebangsaan St Mary in Sibu, Sarawak, where he studied between 1969 and 1974.

He spent about 30 minutes with the 84-year-old Soon, who served as headmistress from 1968 to 1995, before she retired and started work at a church in Kuching.

"I am overjoyed and deeply moved to finally reconnect with Sister Ignatia Soon after all these years," Fadillah shared in his post.

"The reunion was very meaningful to me, having made several attempts in the past to arrange this meeting.

"I'm grateful to all the school principals and teachers who have profoundly impacted my life," he wrote in his post.

The meeting was also attended by other nuns.

Fadillah said it marked a significant moment for him and expressed his gratitude to all his former teachers.
