KUALA LUMPUR: The mechanism for adjusting civil servants' salaries will be announced this month, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said that the preliminary details, or "rough calculations," will be shared soon, with the full details to be disclosed during the tabling of the 2025 Budget.
"I will announce parts of the civil servants' salary adjustment in a few weeks, and the complete details will be revealed in October. The implementation will start in December.
"The salary hike for civil servants is the highest in the country's history; there had been no review on the civil servants remuneration scheme for 12 years," he said at the launch of the Madani Civil Servants Public Housing (PPAM Madani) Pixel Permaisuri today.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the government recognised the contributions of civil servants in the country.
He said that while governments and prime ministers changed, the professional dedication of civil servants remained constant.
"With the restructuring of salaries, we hope to see improved services to the public that are commensurate with the enhanced pay."
It was reported that Anwar would announce the specifics of the salary adjustment mechanism at the 19th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA) event on Aug 16.
Beginning next week, civil servants will be able to check and calculate their salary hike rates under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) following the government's adjustment initiative.
