GEORGE TOWN: Investigation is still ongoing to determine whether allegations made by Tasek Gelugor member of parliament Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan during the Dewan Rakyat sessions on Feb 28 and March 21 were misleading and detrimental to the interests of the involved parties.
Wan Saiful had alleged that the court case against him could be annulled and dropped if he declared his support for the unity government.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said no decision has been made yet.
"Investigation is on going.
"He will be called up to face the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee at a suitable time," he told newsmen after visiting the Penang state legislative assembly here today.
It was reported on June 24 that the motion to refer the Bersatu lawmaker to the committee was tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and was approved by a voice vote, supported by the government bloc, which was then questioned by the opposition.
The Dewan Rakyat descended into chaos soon after Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran) questioned the ruling made by Johari, describing it as "sub judice".
