Discounts on DBKL compounds for Merdeka and Malaysia Day

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall will be offering limited-time discounts on compound arrears related to traffic and general offences from Aug 1 until Sept 30 in conjunction with the Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations.

The discounts apply to traffic offences, such as parking, and for various types of vehicles.

The offer is RM10 for motorcycles, RM20 for cars, MPVs, and small lorries, and RM50 for buses and lorries.

As for general offences, such as hawking licences and other general offences that do not involve foreign nationals, the rate is a flat RM100.

However, the discounts do not apply to blacklisted vehicles.

City Hall also listed types of offences that the special rate does not apply.

"These include offences under the Transportation of Material (WPKL) 1997 and the Wholesale Market (WPKL) 2002 by-laws.

"Additionally, it does not cover the offence of employing any foreign national without a valid work permit under the Licensing of Trades, Businesses and Industries (WPKL) 2016 by-law, nor does it cover offences of employing any foreign national under the Licensing of Hawkers (WPKL) 2016 by-law.

"Other excluded offences are those under the Hotel Act (WPKL) 2003, Entertainment Act (WPKL) 1992, Federal Territory (Planning) Act 1982, as well as offences related to building approvals under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974," it said.

City Hall added that traffic offence notices issued through Section 53 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (bus lane offences) are also not eligible for the special rate.
