Federal govt never discriminates in aid distribution, says Zahid

GUA MUSANG: The Federal Government has never been selective in distributing allocations and other assistance through the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Unlike the Pas-led Kelantan government, Zahid claimed that the state government was choosing its own recipients in aid distribution.

"As Nadma Central Disaster Management Committee chairman, l have handed over the allocations to the people of Kelantan who have been affected by disasters via Nadma.

"Nadma then will channel it to the district officers and village headmen. And I was informed that the village headmen were from the state government's party.

"Their representatives, however, will select only the recipients they wanted. They will not give aid to those who supported the 'blue' and 'red' parties.

"This is a small injustice committed by Pas. The biggest mistake that they made was on the Kesedar land grant issue," he said.

Zahid, who is Barisan Nasional chairman, said this at a meeting with Kesedar settlers in Renok Baru here today.

He said the unity government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership would ensure the people in Nenggiri get justice.

"The prime minister, assisted by me and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, will do the best for the people."

Zahid then said as a dominant party with 62 years experience, BN could change the fate of the people in Nenggiri.

"I promise if our candidate wins the by-election, Nenggiri will see changes in terms of development and others.

"I am confident with Datuk Seri Ahmad Jazlan Yaakob, as the operations chief for BN Nenggiri by-election, BN will gain victory," he added.
