Police arrest man over upside-down Jalur Gemilang incident at a building in Kuala Kangsar

KUALA KANGSAR: Police are investigating an incident where a Jalur Gemilang was found flying upside down at a building here.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Heisham Harun said that police came across the picture and video, which had gone viral on the Facebook group 'Kuala Kangsar Tetap Di Hati' today at 3.20pm.

Heisham said that following this a police report was lodged, and police have arrested a 60-year-old man to facilitate the investigation.

"The man, however, was released on police bail after we had taken his statement.

"He admitted to putting up the flag incorrectly and fixed it on the same day," he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.

He also advised the public to be more sensitive and careful when flying the national flag in conjunction with Independence month.
