No more hardcore poor in Sabah, says CM

KOTA MARUDU: Sabah successfully achieved its target of eliminating hardcore poverty in July this year, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

"Due to the commitment from all, which is in line with the aspirations of the Madani government and Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan 1.0 (2021-2025), I wish to announce we have succeeded in eliminating hardcore poverty in the locked figure list on July 31, 2024," he said.

Hajiji was speaking at the launching of the padi cultivation pilot project at Kampung Ongkilan here today.

The chief minister said cooperation from government-linked companies (GLCs) like Sawit Kinabalu had helped the state government's efforts to eliminate hardcore poverty in the state.

"I hope GLCs will continue to provide job opportunities to our youths, which will undoubtedly help the state government through the SMJ Secretariat and Sabah Development Office's endeavour to end hardcore poverty,' he added.
