KOTA KINABALU: Placing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) integrity officers in Sabah ministries has improved the detection of corruption.
Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy said the initiative has been effective as the integrity officers receive a lot of tip-offs.
"For instance, the recent Op Fly in Sabah was a collaboration between integrity officers stationed at the Immigration Department.
"The operation on July 17 was a success for Sabah MACC.
"We dismantled a passport forgery syndicate, also known as the 'flying passport' syndicate, with the arrest of three enforcement officers from a state department."
He said this during Sabah MACC's Talk and Bowling programme with Sabah media personnel yesterday.
Present were Sabah Journalists Association president Datuk Muguntan Vanar and more than 30 media personnel.
