Umno veep leaving it to the authorities to investigate Muhyiddin's remarks

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin will leave it to the authorities to investigate the actions of Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"I am certain that with such a statement, the authorities will seriously consider what should be done," he told reporters briefly after attending the ministry-level National Month celebration, here.

He said this when asked to comment on the statement expressing displeasure at Muhyiddin's actions by the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Last night, the Pahang regent expressed his anger and deep regret at the actions of Muhyiddin who had allegedly belittled and disputed the duties and role of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah during his reign as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

In a statement issued by Istana Abdulaziz, Tengku Hassanal said he wanted the police to take decisive action without compromise against the PN chairman for touching on 3R issues (royalty, religion, and race).

Tengku Hassanal described the statement by the former prime minister and veteran politician as having manipulated the facts and brought a negative narrative to the people that Al-Sultan Abdullah seemed to be unfair when electing the 10th Prime Minister.

Muhyiddin in his speech during the Nenggiri by-election campaign claimed that he had the backing of 115 members of Parliament after the 2022 general elections and that the king should have called him to be sworn in as the 10th prime minister.

on the matter.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they would be calling Muhyiddin to provide his statement tomorrow to facilitate investigations.
