E-hailing driver, foreign passenger killed in Bakri three-vehicle crash

MUAR: A 60-year-old e-hailing driver and his 27-year-old female passenger were killed in a three-vehicle crash at Jalan Muar-Yong Peng in Bakri, here, yesterday evening.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the e-hailing driver is believed to have veered into the opposite lane and collided with a lorry while negotiating a sharp bend, around 4.30pm.

The impact of the crash caused the victim's car to be dragged by the lorry back to its original lane before another lorry travelling in the same direction crashed into it.

Both victims were trapped inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, while the lorry drivers sustained minor injuries.

Raiz said the victim's bodies were sent to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar for post-mortem examination.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
