KUALA LUMPUR: The upcoming National Conference on Integrity and Governance 2024 (NCIG 2024) will focus on driving efforts on transparency, ethics and corruption-free integrity-based governance among development financial institutions and relevant stakeholders.

NCIG 2024 which will be held on Oct 9 and 10, will be organised by the Association of Development Financial Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM) at the Concorde Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with relevant government agencies.

ADFIM secretary-general Mohd Prasad Hanif said the conference will also focus on discussions and solutions to address contemporary challenges, emphasising transparency, accountability, and measures to combat the roots of corruption to create a positive impact on the business ecosystem.

"Integrity in governance needs to be cultivated as something synonymous and symbiotic within all organisations.

"Therefore, this pure and universal element needs to be strengthened in efforts to foster sustainable economic growth and social development," he said in a press conference on NCIG 2024 here, today.

Mohd Prasad also said the conference aims to inspire reforms and innovation in governance practices including exploring the potential of digital governance and its impact on organisational transparency and accountability.

"This time, attention will also be given to efforts to strengthen collaboration to practice effective governance and to empower public engagement by providing platforms and access to information," he said.

The third edition of NCIG will feature prominent speakers including former Minister of International Trade and Industry Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and former chairman of the Election Commission Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun.

"We expect more than 250 participants from the highest levels to join this conference, with 80 per cent of speakers representing government agencies, while 20 per cent are from non-governmental organisations," he said. – Bernama
