KOTA KINABALU: Sabah civil servants will also be given a salary increment at the end of this year, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
"We will definitely adjust the salary payment according to the planning of the federal government.
"We will be paying according to what has been decided... the calculations will also be the same as Putrajaya," he said, adding that the adjustment will take effect in December.
Hajiji was speaking to reporters after launching a wellness centre at Excellence Alamesra here.
On Aug 16, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had said the new civil service salary rules, known as the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), will take effect from Dec 1.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the SSPA was based on three core reforms including increasing the productivity and efficiency of the civil service.
Civil servants in the implementing and professional group will receive a 15 per cent salary increment, while those in top management and professional roles will see an increase of seven per cent.
The increment will be implemented in two phases: the first phase in December this year and the second phase in January 2026.
