Tailor dies after motorcycle plunges into sea

KANGAR: A 46-year-old tailor tragically died today after losing control of his motorcycle, which hit a curb and plunged into the sea at Sungai Berembang, Simpang Empat.

Chan Kun Loon, a resident of Taman Simpang Jaya, Simpang Empat, is believed to have suffered severe head and body injuries from the accident.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said that the police were alerted to the incident around 9.35am.

"The accident occurred at the junction of the Behor Mali-Sungai Berembang trunk road. The victim was travelling towards Jalan Sungai Berembang when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a roadside curb," he said.

"The impact caused both the victim and his motorcycle to be thrown into the sea," he said when contacted.

Witnesses immediately contacted the police and ambulance services.

"Medical officers pronounced the victim dead at the scene. No signs of criminal activity were found," he said.

The body has been taken to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar for a post-mortem.
