Family pleads for Nur Humaira to return home, seeks public help to locate teen

TAWAU: The family of 15-year-old Nur Humaira Syafiqah Naldi, who has been reported missing since Friday, is praying for her safe return.

Her elder sister, Ayu Naldi, 39, pleaded for her to be located soon.

"I'm asking everyone to help locate her whereabouts, because the family is very worried about her safety.

"She was last seen on Friday and it has been three days now and still there is no news of her," she said.

Ayu said her sister, fondly called 'Maira', lived with her in Kampung Tanjung Batu Keramat, Jalan Utara, near here, and did not return after leaving for school.

"On the day she went missing, she told us that she would be coming home late, but never showed up.

"We have tried finding her through various efforts, but we ended up getting nothing.

"One of my sister's schoolmates uploaded a group photo on Facebook last Friday evening, but Maira was not in the photo.

"I contacted the schoolmate who posted it, but was told that my sister didn't attend school on Friday," she said when contacted here today (Aug 26).

She said she didn't notice anything unusual about Maira before her disappearance.

"I often reminded her about her responsibilities and studying hard, but nothing out of the norm happened at home," she said.

Ayu said the family lodged a missing person report on Nur Humaira Syafiqah at the Tawau district police headquarters at 2.51pm yesterday.

She urged those with information about Maira's whereabouts to contact her at+60149144654 or +60149144653 (brother).

"We also hope that with the power of social media, we will be able to find Maira as soon as possible," Ayu said.

Meanwhile, district police chief assistant commissioner Jasmin Hussin when contacted confirmed the report filed by Nur Humaira Syafiqah's father.

"Efforts to locate the teenager are being actively carried out.

"The case is treated as a missing person case," he said.
